40 year old male diagnosed as Bipolar Affective Disorder 1 manic type 23 years ago. I am a mental health activist, a father, and a gay longtime partner. I am currently on disability for my illness. I used to be a very successful hair color artist and educator. Now I am a successful disabled bipolar patient. I am compliant with my therapy, medication, and doctor suggestions. I also have been diagnosed as a borderline. I am still learning about it and I do more everyday to overcome it. I use mindfulness meditation as a vehicle of treatment.
